Beadwork
I started beading in early 2023 after I took a class through one of Oneida Nation’s programs. I credit that class for igniting my passion for beadwork. After spending a couple of months on my own making flat-stitch earrings, I reached out to an Oneida Beadwork Artist whose work I admire and asked her to mentor me. I have been learning from Jennifer Jordan since the spring of 2023. In 2024, Jennifer and I were awarded funding through Wisconsin Arts Board’s Folk & Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Program. We used the funding to create Haudenosaunee style beaded picture frames. We were awarded funding again in 2025 and are planning on hosting a beaded picture frame class to teach others how to create these traditional, whimsical pieces. I will share updates about the class offering on my Facebook page, Sadie Cheyenne Art.
I currently create both flat-stitch and raised beaded earrings, medallions and picture frames. I am beginning to integrate caribou hair tufting into my beaded creations. If you are interested in purchasing a piece of my beaded jewelry, please visit my Etsy Shop.
